Two Weeks in October - Happy Halloween

Hi there.  Obviously I have not gotten back to the once a week posting.  I will try to do better and I'm looking forward to posting about the great seasonal closet switch. However, I've got to wait for it to be below 90 freaking degrees for more than a day or two to justify bringing out the sweaters. October has been surprisingly full of social activities, none of which I have pictures of. I'm not sure if that is a good or a bad thing.  The lack of a smart phone, with a cool camera, means that I don't take pictures of everything, but it also means I'm not tempted to take pictures instead of enjoying the experience. Considering the fact that I have yet to hook up my hand me down iPhone the point is rather moot at the moment. And now onto the clothes.

Yet Another Two Week Wrap Up and It's Not Cold Yet

Hi there.  I seem to have fallen into a pattern of only blogging every other week.  I aim to improve this by the end of the year.  I think if I can start off the New Year with an established weekly blogging habit, that is one less thing to commit to after the holiday season.  I've never been a big New Years resolution person, mostly because I think it's a great set up to fail and quit without really trying.  I think that the changing of the seasons is a good time to resolve to do or change things simply because change is in the air.  Except change is not in the air in the Sonoran Desert right now. At least not during the day. Temperatures are still hitting the low 90's by day, but at night the chill that Autumn brings can be felt.  This was a rather long winded way of saying I have at least another week or two before I can switch out by hot-season clothing for my not hot-season clothing. This has, however, given me the opportunity to re-wear some of my favorite hot-season outfits. And now onto the outfits.

Its Chilly Out - Two Week Wrap Up

I hope I'm not jinxing the weather when I say it may have reached the perfect time of year in the Sonoran Desert.  It's cool enough during the day that the air conditioner rarely comes on and it's actually on the chilly side at night. This means I only have a few weeks left before the semi annual closet switch. With the switch imminent I am re-wearing some of my favorites before they are packed away and I am checking to see which hangers were never flipped during the current season. Yes I use the backward hanger trick to see what I don't wear.

While I don't automatically relegate unworn clothes to the donation pile, I do think more closely about why I haven't worn any given item.  The usual culprit for me seems to be aspirational clothing. Clothes that I think would look good, and generally have good labels, but don't actually fit my style aesthetic. This is one of the down sides to my love of thrifting. I should know better but sometimes I will see a great deal, like an Oscar de la Renta ruffled top for $.99, and add it to my pile without thinking about whether or not I am actually going to wear said item.  Loving an item of clothing is not enough, willingness to wear that item is also a requirement to stay in my closet. So goodbye ruffled blouse, I hope your next owner actually wears you.
